Um… What Amendment Was That Again?
Yes, it’s your constitutional right to control what other people say! Yeah, that’s what the founding fathers wrote about… America is a place where you can come and be free but you have to watch what you say about King George! The American revolution was about falling in line with what King George said we should do and paying taxes to support England’s empire around the world but not to see any benefit on those taxes at home… Is everyone smoking crack?
America is the land of the free. Home of the brave! And free-speech was a protected right. Now we have senators that want to ban TikTok advertising. They say they’re worried about the effect it will have on the American people! Is there anyone else wondering when somebody breaks the constitution what is going on here in America? Technically, we should not be banning TikTok or anything.
This smacks of the racist and close-minded behavior of America in the past. We need to move forward, correct? So senators and congressmen and people can deal with the issues pertaining to the actual running of our country, and not worrying about what we read and what we think.
Just in case you are asking yourself if this story is real, check the CNBC article published on March 5th this year by Ashley Carboot which talks about how senators are planning to present a bill that will ban or prohibit foreign technology like TikTok.
The bill is actually sponsored by Senator Mark Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, who said recently that he’s introducing a broad, bipartisan bill outlining an approach to banning or prohibiting foreign technology like TikTok. They say that they are concerned about what Americans are seeing on the platform… I bet there are!
Is it his business to watch over what we see and read about? Is that what the founding fathers wanted senators and members of congress to do? To look into our lives and tell us what we can and cannot be reading? Does anyone else see a danger here?
CNBC goes on to say that this bill comes after a U.S. Foreign Affairs Committee voted on Wednesday last week to advance a bill that would grant President Joe Biden the authority to ban TikTok. Maybe the government should focus on banning the foreign balloons flying over our country and let us decide on what kind of content we want to read?
If you read your history you will know that we were founded on many of the concepts of the Roman republic and empire. In Trajan’s forum, which was the market and business place of Rome, there was a saying over the portal that led into the forum that read, “caveat emptor” which means “let the buyer beware.” That’s what capitalism is all about. Unless you want a different form of government other than what we have, that’s what we are about, capitalism.
And that’s what we love about radio! Capitalism working at its finest! If you don’t like what you hear on the radio station, what do you do? You turn the station to something else, right? Radio is completely Americana! This mock attempt at trying to “protect us” by banning what we can see is what another type of government likes to do that’s closely related to TikTok. Can anybody tell me who that is… Anyone…? If you want free speech then you need to listen to and advertise on the radio!
